Infrastructure Capacity Issues and Strategy
- Pipeline Investment Approach: Using Strategic Gaming, we helped a major oil and gas client weigh a variety of pipeline build alternatives and ownership scenarios. Taking a broad, holistic scope, the work showed that the client could and should pursue ambitious alternatives. These would actually reduce risks and provide greater upside potential to the client’s exploration and production goals, while enhancing the company’s long-term position in the region. The study also identified the key potential pipeline partners – those who could facilitate making the pipeline build happen while ensuring alignment with upstream partners.
- Pipeline Export Strategy: We used Strategic Gaming to help an oil and gas company unravel a set of complex oil export issues that involved seven governments and at least five other oil and gas companies. The work showed the need for a re-prioritization of the client’s stakeholder engagement efforts and export foci. The study demonstrated which of the client’s alternatives could avoid marginalization by other stakeholders and how the client could best produce a win-win with certain other key companies and particular governments. With the right focus, implementation of the action plan saved hundreds of millions of dollars in value.
